Drive down the driveway, past an enormous banyan tree, to this large home. This classic Hawaiian home, with its original lava rock wall entrance, is a truly one-of-a-kind oceanfront property. It has been remodeled, while maintaining its original Hawaiian charm. The open style of this Hawaiian property has ideal vacation home conveniences, such as a completely renovated ocean view kitchen with 2 refrigerators, an ocean view master bath, a living room with doors that open to the ocean where you can sit steps away from the sand and water. The many spacious bedrooms in this house allow groups to stay together while affording ample private space. The home spans the entire ocean front portion of the lot.
This home also has access to a large (shared) gated pool area. The water in front of the home is shallow and calm, which is good for children. Surfing is possible during the summer months in front of the home if you walk out past the reef where it gets deeper. Amazing snorkeling is just a few minutes up the road at world famous Hanauma Bay.

Great place!
25 members of our family spent a week at the house over Thanksgiving, 2018. Great setup for a large group. Plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms, on the ocean and a private pool separately fenced which was a plus for the little ones. As people before have said, the living room gets very hot and the couple of fans there do not do the job. The house needs a deep cleaning: probably a couple times a year. The kitchen and bathrooms were clean, but the baseboards and under the beds and furniture: just deep cleaning needed. We had trouble immediately with one of the refrigerators in the main house: The company sent someone out, but within a couple days it wasn't working again. This is a problem with so many people and we were eating from the main house so it wasn't very convenient to keep food in one of the other cottages.

Manager Response: Thank you for taking the time to review. We have just completed a deep cleaning, which we do quarterly. Though there is no ac in the living room area of the main house, all bedrooms on the estate have ice cold a/c units. There are two refrigerators in the main house, we have replaced the fridge that was beginning to run a bit warm. There are a total of five refrigerators on the property.

Perfect House!
This house was perfect for our family. We had 7 teenagers and us. There was plenty of space for the kids and private space for us to escape from the kids too! The location was amazing as well. Close to Costco which was a must, close to Waikiki and beautiful beaches near by as well. The kids used Uber a couple of times which was really nice with this big of a group. Getting onto the highway can be tricky but, just be patient with traffic. We would defiantly want to come back.

Manager Response: Thanks for your review, we are so glad your family enjoyed themselves!!! For future guests please note that the best way to ease into traffic simply wait for the nearby stoplight to turn red, at that point you can easily pull into any lane needed.

Banyan Tree Beachfront Beauty
We had a great vacation at a beautiful property. I first trip to Hawaii and we couldn't have asked for a better location in proximity to everything. Clean, well kept, and easy access.
We could have rated this property a full five stars but it had a few items the owners could fix to make it perfect.
#1 - needs outdoor lighting around the back and in the front. Simple outdoor LV lighting would really set the mood in the back with the views
#2 - needs air conditioning in the main living space
Other than that, it was great. Would recommend to anyone and even large families. Loved our stay.

Apr 2019

Manager Response: Thank you for staying with us, Vonachen Family! We appreciate the tips and will work on upgrading outdoor lighting to improve the ambiance further. Future guests please note that there is ac in every bedroom on the estate.

A Real Picture Postcard
The house if just as pictured. It really is a beachfront property. The decor and furnishings are worthy of a magazine spread. We were a multgenerational family coming together and it was the perfect retreat with plenty of space for family meals, cooking together, playing and visiting. We loved the pool, too. The airconditioners in the bedrooms kept they very comfortable. The lack of airconditioning in the main part of the house - kitchen, dining, pool room, and living room - made those rooms very uncomfortable in the afternnon and early evening. Still, we all came away feeling that it was a perfect place for us.

Banyan Tree Main House and 3 cottages
This was the trip of a lifetime for my husband and I and our three sons, three daughters-in-law and 6 grandkids. The property allowed us to have space but the main house was the hub of the week. Hawaii was so much fun and so beautiful but the property gave us a phenomenal family experience. We hope to go back to this place again someday.

Bravo to Beachfront Banyon Estate!
20 of us used this home for a week and thoroughly enjoyed the experience! The proximity to the ocean, the use of the pool ( and the owners kindly left some large pool toys for our youngsters to enjoy< which they really did!), the ability to walk along the beach at low tide, and it's proximity to Aina Haina ( Foodland Farms and gasoline ) and Kahala Mall ( Whole Foods) and Costco, as well as reasonable access to all the historical and recreational sites on Oahu, ( despite the slow and heavy traffic daily) made this a marvelous location for our family! The management was very attentive to the plumbing problems that we had (understandable with a group this size), and the property seemed well maintained. The only caveats I would offer are that the great room is NOT AIR CONDITIONED, and there is no screen on the sliding glass door which is needed to ventilate that space ( the side windows which are screened, are insufficient) which made the great room where we often gathered in the late pm and around the dinner hour, quite uncomfortable because of the humidity. ALso, the swimming pool coping needs repairs, and is currently unsightly. We rented extra beach chairs so we could enjoy sitting on the back lawn when the house was too hot. In all, the beds were comfortable for our group, the air conditioning in the bedrooms kept us cool and comfy there, the kitchen was well-equipped (having the 2 refrigerators was very helpful!) and we would happily return or recommend this property to others! It was well described, the manager was easy and pleasant to work with. We used private Chef John Seymour for our farewell dinner who did an excellent job, and catered in from Uncle Bo's Restaurant who delivered on our arrival night ( which was also delicious....with many leftovers!). In all, "the best family vacation, ever!") Thank you Hawaiian Beach Homes!

Beautiful beachfront experience
Our family of 20 rented the Banyan tree and the cabana home right in front of the pool. Everyone loved the location. Kids swam in the pool while waiting for the house to be ready for check in. We bbq and hung out at beach backyard. Had fresh coconut in our backyard. Fresh mangoes growing in the front. We dug for crabs everyday since water was shallow and sharp. Tides change far in and far out. Few houses down there is this canal with huge water pipes and a stone wall. Make sure the lil ones don't run over there or fall over the wall. My fiance saw a child running towards it and had to run over to catch him before the child almost fell in. If you are at home during the day there is no ac unit for living area. Very close drive to hanauma bay snorkeling. Walk out into the beach home waters and take a picture of the house and the city view behind it. Breathtaking.

We read all the reviews before renting the property.
We were concerned about some of the reviews that stated the neighbors kids would be in the pool and restricted noise levels after 8pm.

We acted the same way we would have at home with friends and family and we didn't have any issues.

Don't leave any food out - even if it's not opened and packaged. We found mice eating our snack each morning. But that's expected in a tropical place like this. We stuffed everything in the microwave and fridge after a few days of this.

OVERALL - the stay was amazing, the hosts were very responsive and we had a great time! We hope to go back soon

More beautiful than the pictures!
We rented all four houses on this property for guests at our destination wedding and we could not have been happier with the place. It was so beautiful, there was plenty of room for everyone (22 of us total) and everyone really enjoyed the beach right on the property and the gorgeous pool that felt like it was in a jungle with beautiful tall trees and tropical plants everywhere. The houses were so comfortable too and perfect for a group getaway. Mahalo to Hawaiian Beach Homes for a perfect vacation!

Wonderful family friendly house
My family stayed at this house for 5 nights with 6 children ages 2-11 during May. I also rented the house next door since I was getting married that week and had 20+ family members fly in. Let me also note that my family needs infrastructure: cars, air conditioning, kitchen etc. This house was PERFECT. Incredibly large space (even with toddlers running around), great view and the pool is great too. The pool is shared with two other houses within this gated community (this house is 1 of 3) but you really never notice people so much. This house really made a difference in my family vacation. Thank you Hawaii Beach homes for your warm support throughout the booking process and the stay!

Great house for a big group
The Banyan Tree is perfect for a big group, plenty of beds, lots of light, and a nice big kitchen. The beach is also right outside the backyard which makes for a really lovely view. Our group enjoyed the pool table, pool, and hot tub that was on the property.

Banyan Estate and Cabana's
Magnificent location! Had my 50th there with 16 family and friends and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Needs some attention eg pool table felt top ripped, some stains on sheets, one sofa in main lounge badly sagging in middle, toilet system required attention on day 4 (assistance arrived immediately after call to concierge on a Sat evening). Minor details that would make a difference. I do feel the property has been photographed so well your expectations are very high and on arrival first impression is a little disappointing. In saying that the Cabana's were far more impressive than originally thought. Very happy with overall experience, attention from caretaker and Hawaiian Beach Homes professionalism to deal with.

Amazing Stay in Paradise
My experience in this house could not have been better. Yes there were a few small things (the water right outside is very shallow and not really swimmable, the pool table is old and hard to play on etc.), but overall, this place was a paradise. It fit our large group perfectly, and was an amazing home base to explore the island. In fact, the house was so amazing, that many days we opted to just hang at the house, swim in the pool, and lounge in the back yard. This is a really special property, and one that all of us thoroughly enjoyed. One of the best rental houses I have ever stayed in. Miss it already!

large party by the sea
This review is for the Banyan Tree house ONLY. We also had the other places at the estate. The size was great, the bedroom ACs worked well, plenty of towels and a well stocked kitchen. The teens enjoyed the pool table a great deal. We loved the hot tub and pool. Views of the water were amazing, and we could see lots of stars at night. On the other hand: the common rooms of the house were very warm and would not cool down because there is little to no cross ventilation. The screen doors were broken and therefore a constant misery to go in and out of. The overall condition of the home is somewhat run down which is not evidenced in the photos. We had two plumbing problems. They were handled efficiently and courteously. Loved the snorkeling at Hanauma Bay. If you get there early, it is free! Had an amazing brunch at Moena cafe. This is a great place to stay for the Honolulu marathon, as it is right on the course route and your party can come out and cheer for you! Great tattoo parlor: Hapsflow in Honolulu.

Memories for a Lifetime
Firstly, I would like to start by saying i'm versed in renting outstanding properties & this was definitely on my top list. Location, amenities, and layout of the house was more than we could've asked for. Every room has it's own a/c with the exception of the living room. The backyard is literally your ocean and the waves crash 1 mile off shore so this place is a perfect for those uncomfortable with the water. I would highly recommend this property & I can't wait to go back. Thanks again for everything!

Wedding in Hawaii
This was the perfect rental for a large group. We rented the entire estate which easily and comfortably housed 22 of our family for this special event. The estate was as described with each home providing privacy and individual living areas while having large areas in the Banyan Tree for everyone gathering together. The beachfront area was perfect for relaxing, grilling and eating outside. The children built sand castles, swam, and paddle boarded while the adults enjoyed the beautiful sunrises and sunsets. The pool and spa provided additional enjoyment. The banyan tree was pretty impressive too. The homes were comfortable, clean and well provisioned. Additionally, the management was friendly, helpful and prompt in their responses to our questions and requests prior to arrival, on arrival and during the stay. Great location. Definitely the place to stay when in Honolulu.

Anniversary get away
We had a get together with our family to celebrate all the anniversaries. What a lovely place to do it. The beach was great for all the little ones. As for the adults, we were able to snorkel and relax. There were a few maintenance issues but nothing to spoil our time. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

family vacation
The size and arrangement of the house was great.Dishes were not clean that were in the cabinets and had some food and paper on floor in kitchen area when we arrived. Maintenance needs to work on doors especially screens that go outside from great room. The house was great size for 9 of us. Overall was a good stay.

Group Holiday in Hawaii
We rented all 4 property's on the Estate as there was 19 in our group of family and friends and it worked perfectly for us. We had young children and teenagers. Fantastic location, right onto the beach and shallow enough for the young children to play in the water by themselves (supervised from the beach). It allowed everyone to spend time together but still have our own space. The pool was enjoyed by everyone. Friendly neighbors (who also share the pool) showed some of our children how to open a coconut and and let them help with the lighting and releasing the lanterns on the 4th July. The location is great. We all hired cars and there was plenty of room for 5 cars. The only major improvement we would recommend would be to put air conditioning in the lounge as it was extremely hot even with the fans all going

Spring Break 2015
Great house for a large group! Management company was very responsive to questions. We only rented the main house but at no time during our stay did we encounter the guests from the other cottages - we definitely had our privacy. Don't be concerned if there are others on the property (if you're only renting the main house).

Only item of concern was that although there are 3 operational bathrooms and showers, only one of the showers is really adequate/comfortable for use. The majority of our party (5 out of 7) only used one of the 3 showers during our stay because of this.
Mar 2015

Manager Response: Hi Darcy, We appreciate all your time spent filling out this review. We hope you enjoyed your Spring Break! All bathrooms as well as the showers are operational at this property. This large private estate has plenty of room for everyone to enjoy! We look forward to your next visit to Oahu and we are happy to read that you enjoyed your first time at a beach house :) Aloha, Hawaii Beach Homes

Banyan & Garden Cottage
Generally good. Did not meet expectations of cleanliness or functionality of appliances (grills and hot tub seemed to have been broken for a long time). Did meet expectations of location and ability to host our large group.
David R.
Jan 2015

Manager Response: Aloha David, Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts about The Banyan Tree. There has been a bran new jacuzzi installed on property. We are very sorry but they do take a while to ship from the mainland. If cleaning is never at 100% we always offer to send cleaning services back through. The grill will be looked at by maintenance and if it is fixable it will be replaced. We hope your large group enjoyed this home and look forward to hosting you again in the future. Happy New Year, Hawaii Beach Homes

Banyan House Bonanza
With our large group of 24 and a mixture of ages, 74 - 6months this was a delightful spot. Plenty of room for all, good beach for the little ones, close to all the places which make Honolulu great. Kitchen was large enough to feed everyone, plenty of dishes etc. This property was clean and we will hopefully be back next year.

Manager Response: Aloha Terry, We LOVE the title of your review! We appreciate your accurate description of The Beachfront Banyan Estate :) We are happy to read that for a large group of 24! You had everything you needed. We look forward to booking your estate booking next year. Happy New Year, Hawaii Beach Homes

Exactly what we needed.
We loved staying at the Banyan Beach Estate. The location and space was exactly what we need. However, the main room in the Banyan House was extremely warm. Also, we found it hard to secure the Banyan house with the old windows and a few of the people in our party notice some cash missing from their wallets (although, we are not certain the money was stolen from the home). For a large party, this is a very affordable and convenient location with a great view.
Sep 2014

Manager Response: Aloha Jacquelyn, The Banyan Tree is exactly what everyone needs! The home has a wonderful location and is truly affordable. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed this destination. Mahalo, Hawaii Beach Homes

great stay
The property was old but clean, big, and confortable.
the closest supermarket was 5 minutes drive, and so was the Kahala Mall,10-15 min to waikiki.
We used with 12 peole including baby and children.
Children enjoyed the beach just in front of the property.
We had some trouble with lights, disposer and something else during our stay but the staff from Hawaii Beach Homes fixed it so quickly.
We enjoyed the stay very much.
would stay again.
Sep 2014

Manager Response: Aloha Junko, A big mahalo for taking the time share your experience at The Banyan Tree. It sounds like you and your guests really enjoyed the spacious grounds. We do try out best to correct any issues at the clients discretion, again thank you for working with us :) Hawaii Beach Homes

Banyon Tree House & Cabana - a great stay!
We had a wonderful week in Hawaii! It's a good thing that we rented the Cabana along with the Banyon Tree because 12 people would have difficulty with only three bathrooms. Cooking supplies, plates, and bowls were plentiful. Well supplied with quality bath towels and beach towels. One bedroom had no dresser, one bedroom had no place to hang clothes - living out of a suitcase is not fun! It was difficult to get out of the drive and onto the street - traffic was almost constant. Short 1/2 hour drive from the airport made it convenient

Location was so nice!!
safety,quietly and great view:)
Condition was dissatisfied..
The bathtub drain is running slow.
The faucet of a kitchen is loosening.

In addition, all mat got wet at the time of check-in.
May 2014

Manager Response: Aloha Mariko, Thank you for reviewing The Banyan Tree. This home offers the best location for family and friends. We have addressed these issues with the home owner and our maintenance team. Mahalo, Hawaii Beach Homes

Great location
We love this beach house and stay there every week. Good location in front of beach, convenient for family with kids. Easy access to anywhere, close to Waikiki and Kahala mall. Only one thing we conmplain. Somebody before our stay threw away a lot of butt in the garden. Can't believe it. Guests who stay there need moral.

The Banyan Tree
We enjoyed our experience at 'the banyan tree'. It was most suitable for our adult family. The pool table, pool and views were all put to good use. Also the BBQ and plentiful kitchen utensils made it easy to cook at home and enjoy our family get together. A wonderful holiday for us all.

Manager Response: Aloha Helen, Thank you for taking the time to review The Banyan Tree. This home has such a great location and is completely family oriented. Hawaii Beach Homes I glad to hear your party was able to work on their pool game! We look forward to hosting your family in the future. Mahalo, Jessica

Wonderful Oahu experience
The house is facing the sae,but no sound of waves. In the morning we could see the beautiful sunrise and at night we could see the stars suspended above the flouting moon.
Very covenient place from airport and downtown Honolulu and nesr the Kahala mall for daily shopping.

Manager Response: Aloha Takao! Thank you very much for taking the time to share your thoughts about The Banyan. This home has unique ocean views and an amazing Banyan Tree on property. We look forward to hosting you in the future. Mahalo, HBH Management

Great Stay!
We had a wonderful Christmas Vacation at the house. The amazing view of the water was so nice to wake up to each morning. The water is shallow for a long way out so perfect for kids to play in. Nice neighbours in this area, spoke with many of them as they walked along the beach. House is older, but is huge! and accommodated our whole family, it is not perfectly clean, but not bad, liveable. We had the opportunity to meet the owner of the home on vacation as he was with his family in Hawaii for the holidays...very nice people. Management of the property were very helpful and available via phone when needed...which was only once for the hot tub breaker reset. Anyway, I totally recommend this house....we noticed that most homes in Hawaii are older, this is one of the larger homes so large families can stay comfortably in this area. Costco and Safeway are close to this home as well....very handy! Loved Hawaii!! .....the temperature change was an increase in 50 Celsius for us ...literally :) If you are planning a wedding, family reunion or anything that requires more room check with the Hawaii beach homes staff as this house has a pool house and cabanas in the back yard that can be rented out as well. We didn't know that there was additional availability on this property so ended up rented a condo for other family members that was not close to the house.
Enjoy your stay!!! We did :)

Manager Response: Aloha Senych Family, We are very pleased to know you and your family enjoyed your stay with us. Please think of us the next time you plan a trip to Oahu. Mahalo, Hawaii Beach Homes

Great Experience
The size of the home was great. We had 12 people in our party, and we had plenty of room. The appliances were outdated, and in need of replacement. A good interior paint job is required, as well as the main bathroom needed a complete overhaul. The washer and dryer needed updating, and as well there should be an extra dryer. They should be enclosed. Overall the home met our needs, and our family had a great Hawaiian experience.

Great location. huge house
Loved it. There very a few small issues that the management team solved immediately. Central area got very hot mid afternoon but just for a few hours. The house has a lot more rooms then we thought. Everyone loved the cottages. Perfect for a large group like us. Kitchen fully stocked with utensils. Beds were all great. Beach was very calm and perfect for all our young children. Only ongoing problem was a rude young teenage relative of the owner who kept bringing friends to swim and jump off one of the cottages into the pool. Again the management team tried to control the situation. I'd stay here again.

My information is intended to be helpful, not petty. The house was perfect for 6 adults and 4 kids, ages 2 to 6. The house layout is great, very spacious, location is great (20 min from Sea Life Park and Waikiki; 50 min to N. Shore), backyard is very nice (especially when you have young kids that want to run around), many towels are provided, and AC window units in every bedroom was been key for comfort when sleeping. Common area (kitchen, dining, and living area) does not have AC. Even with open windows, it was pretty warm in there, so we would just go in backyard (but there is a 9 PM curfew for going back inside house since home is in a neighborhood and you can't disturb neighbors.) However, the home is in need of a little maintenance: sliding screen doors are flimsy and come off tracks easily, windows in room with pool table cannot be opened), dining chairs are canvas director chairs and they are not very sturdy. Management Co was contacted and they sent someone immediately to fix the screen doors and other small issues we had, but the doors are too flimsy and came off the tracks again. Lots of sunlight at 5:30 AM sunrise in the bedrooms (darker or thicker curtains would be nice.) Beach behind house is narrow, about 5-10 feet for walking or laying out. No waves and very shallow (about mid-calf) until you walk out much further (prob 1/8 mile.) Pool was nice, but has a 7 PM curfew (so as to not disturb neighbors.)

Wishing I was still there!!
I have stayed in hotels every other time I have come to visit my daughter and her family in Honolulu. This was such a special way to enjoy them in a relaxing atmosphere. They have young children that could enjoy the beach and watching the sun rise every morning with a cup of coffee with friends and family on our "private" beach was a vacation I will never forget.

Banyan Tree Family Vacation
The house is located in a very nice location that allows easy access to any part of the island you would like to visit. The house did have some maintenance issues ( a note was sent to the property managers) and there was definitely some sort of rodent (s) coming in at night. It would also be nice if the old dryer and hot water tank were removed from the Site.
Apr 2013

Manager Response: Aloha Marilyn, Thank you for your review and thank you for your email that you had sent regarding some of the maintenance issues you had at the home. We had our maintenance crew go out and take care of the issues you had pointed out such as the dishwasher and screen door. We always inform guests to contact us anytime regarding any problems at the home. If we aren't readily available, our answering service will touch basis with us immediatly. We also have a back-up emergency number you can call. I will make a note to management regarding your suggestion of removing the old dryer and hot water tank from the home. Mahalo again for your review, Hawaii Beach Homes.

Retreat in Hawaii
The property was clean and it met our needs. The facility was a little dated and could use a little more TLC but in general the accomodations was adequate.

Excellent for the stay with little children
The house was a very confortable, but had no airconditioning in living room (the room was too big for that) and little too warm to stay in the daytime. Hot water will be out and cold water comes when one take a bath... shower is recommended!
Some lights and fans are broken and needs maintenance.
Other than above was perfect, especially the view from the living window and from the gardent was terrific!!

Location! Location! Location
Best area ever in Oahu! This house is located only 8 min from Hanauma Bay. 8 min from Waikiki beach. And 50 min from north shore!
Our group was 12 ppl and we had an amazing time! All our friends already asked for the house contact information after seeing the pictures of our vacation! We recommend this house to everyone and will definitely come back! No need to look for anything else!
Sara! Thank you so much for being so nice, helpful and professional!

Great location and big enough for a large extended family!
This property was perfect for our wedding party and immediate family to stay at! It had enough space for all of us to spread out but come together for dinners together. We loved the pool and beach scenery, but the beach was a little too rocky to swim. The house could use a bit of TLC and updating but overall it was great due to the fabulous location close to Waikiki, Hawaii Kai (where we had family) and Haunauma Bay.

Manager Response: Thank you Jennifer, and Congratulations! We hope to see you again on your tenth anniversary. Aloha, Sara

This place is fantastic
I loved everything about this house. Don't expect 5 star hotel luxury - you're not paying for it, but the house is in great condition, the rooms are laid out perfectly around a huge living area where everyone can hang out. We had a bbq on the beach right outside the house and it was a huge hit.
Location is perfect - 5 minutes from Waikiki by car, I'm coming back, without a doubt.

Banyan Tree (entire estate)
Our family of 16 stayed at this property for a week in early May. From my 85 year old father down to my 4 month old granddaughter, everyone enjoyed their stay. We used the main house as our meeting place each morning. Everyone would bring their coffee and we would enjoy the sunrise and plan our day. We loved the kitchen and made most of our breakfasts and dinners at the house. It's hard to beat an oceanfront view. Costco and Foodland right down the street was awesome. I have 2 suggestions. The main part of the house is extremely warm during the afternoon/evening. Made it difficult to cook and eat in the dining room. Possibly additional stand-up A/C units would handle that. Our other suggestion would be to upgrade the quality of the bed linens and pillows in the main house. The cottages didn't seem to have the same issues. Overall, we loved our stay at the Banyan Tree and would encourage any and all to stay here! We thank you for a week of lifetime memories for our family!

Comments of Our Stay at The Banyan Tree
The "great room" is a wonderful place for a large family/group to gather. Ample space, plenty of chairs, and a great view.

The laundry area could be greatly improved if the old, disconnected washer were removed, and the washer & dryer placed next to each other. Also, a larger overhang would help in case of rain.
Many mugs and plates were badly chipped/cracked.
My family of 18 occupied two cottages, as well, and two rolls of paper towels in the kitchen for a week was not enough.
Jun 2012

Manager Response: Thank you for the thoughtful suggestions: we are talking to mantainance about improving the washer and dryer area of the main house. As for paper towels, we do provide all guests with a starter kit that includes 1 roll of paper towels, a new sponge in each kitchen, liquid soap at every sink and in every shower, and 3 rolls of t.p. in every bathroom. If these run out, it is up to the guest to replace their own paper goods. Mahalo Hawaii Beach Homes

Family Get Away
Banyan Tree House was a great location close to everything. Costco and Safeway only a few miles east. House was large enough for our whole family - no one got in each other's way. Management company was helpful and friendly. Only two small comments - screen doors wouldn't stay on the tracks and the kitchen knifes were dull. We had a great time.

Small bathroom has something living in roof. Small bath shower needs a lot of work. Ran out of toilet paper on 2nd day. Also had to buy bathroom soaps.

Just short of paradise
I would love to give this property a huge "thumbs up!", but I just can't. This property is in a perfect location. I could not have been happier with the ease of getting to and from the house. The layout of the house is perfect for large groups. If everything in the house is geared toward large family/group usage, why are there only 4 coffee cups? Why is there only one recycling can that gets picked up only once a week? There are at least 4 residences on the property. Why does the patron, who has spent a large amount of money to rent this house have to provide virtually everything in the house to make it habitable? We had to buy coffee cups...we had to buy everything. If we had been spending only several days would have been outrageously expensive to stay there. I don't feel the owner has invested in the upkeep of the house in ages. I could not find any dish towels and had to use napkins. Honestly, after spending $15,000 for the rental, I did expect a higher standard of care from the owner. I also think it should be clearer that there is no possibility of swimming in the water right in front of the house. We walked out to the breakers and the water never got above our knees and was completely covered in rocks and coral. This was not all together a negative thing. We had 3 young children and never had to worry about them and the water, but I think the description should be more accurate. Before renting the house, I read a review by a man who said all the same things...I thought he was being extraordinarily picky and chose to ignore his review...he actually was right on the mark. But...even with all the above remarks, as a family, we had a wonderful time and loved our time in Oahu. We wouldn't trade our time there for anything. Thank you!

Jan 2012

Manager Response: Thank you for the review. After receiving it we did an inventory, and restocked some kitchen supplies. When large groups rent the entire estate things such as coffee cups quickly dissappear, some to other homes, some are left by the pool, etc. But if this is not the case and you feel the home is missing anything, simply call our office and we will fix the situation. The water in front of the home is very shallow and calm for a few hundred yards, which is ideal if you have small children. If you put on reef shoes and walk past the rocky area, the water becomes deep and swimmable. This area is also great for kayaking and stand up paddling. Mahalo, Hawaii Beach Homes

Our stay at the Banyan tree house
Our stay was very enjoyable. I do feel that the house floors needed to be cleaned a little better. It would be nice to have AC in the livingroom and kitchen area. The house was nice and roomy and accomodated our family very well. I loved all the windows, the bbq was great and so was the hottub! I would stay again.

A wonderful memory at the Banyan Tree
We stayed at the Banyan Tree for 5 nights. Although our stay was short one, all of us loved the vacation rental property. The location was good for shopping, driving, and swimming. The house and whole furniture produced good old Hawaiian taste. The scenery
around the house was beautiful and calm. We enjoyed the birds singing and felt peaceful moment at the beach in front of the house. We had been very comfortable as if we live in our own home and experienced more we expected during our stay. We thank all of
the company members for their great help.

It would be nice if the property had more water toys - boggie boards a longboard or 2, sups etc....

Manager Response: We don't provide water toys due to liability issues. That being said, many guests purchase things and leave them behind, so we suggest you check the house before renting or buying anything. Mahalo for your review! Hawaii Beach Homes

We absolutely loved our stay at The Banyan Tree! The house could be quite warm during the daytime because of no AC in the living areas but that would be our only complaint. Everything was wonderful and I would definitely stay there again!

Good location, close to Waikiki, Haunauma Bay, Blowhole
Great location, but getting in/out of the property is tricky as it's on a busy highway. Beach isn't really a swimming or wading beach, very muddy, makes for nice tidepools in low tide. But lots of rocks and mud, luckily Haunauma Bay is close and Kailua is about a 45 min drive. Could be termites in one room and bathroom, surprised cleaners didn't notice buildup of dirt. Large sliding windows came off hinges when we unlatched to open up windows for a breeze-when we mentioned to mgmt co., they just asked if we wanted someone to come fix it, but I just wanted to make sure they knew we hadn't broken them. Overall nice house, though, better to rent whole property for big group like ours so you don't have to share pool (though neighbors used it and weren't supposed to since we rented the whole property). Jacuzzi's were fun! One note, though-we were taking red-eye out and asked about late check-out. Mgmt co told me to call day before check-out, but when I did they said cleaners had already been scheduled to come clean. I felt like I had been strung along, couldn't cleaners have been told to come later if I had been asking for a late check-out? Why did I have to wait until the day before to find out we couldn't stay a little later? We had good communication during the whole reservation process but the check-out was disappointing.
Jul 2011

Manager Response: Thank you for the review. In response to your comments: 1. Like most oceanfront homes, the Banyan is off a busy coastal road. There is a stoplight a few houses down from the entrance to the estate; if you simply wait for the oncoming traffic to stop at a red light, pulling out onto the road is easy as can be. 2. The beaches are affected after heavy rains, and can become muddy. Typically, the water here is clean and calm. 3. Late check out can only be confirmed one day in advance. We do not mean to "string people along", it is simply that we have a busy and complicated cleaning schedule amongst our 30+ homes, and late check out depends on a huge number of factors. Our only other option for late check out is to not offer it at all. In any case, thank you again for the review, we are very glad you enjoyed your stay. Mahalo, Hawaii Beach Homes

My comments are for the property manager only. I would not "currently" recommend this property to a friend due to two of the bathrooms are in deseprate need of updating. Once this has been completed the property is truly an outstanding place to spend a vacation. One other comment is that we could not locate the "house binder. Thank for asking for our comments we appreciate your interest in what we have to say. We also appreciate the size of the home as the space was needed and used by our family. Gayle Floyd

Manager Response: Thank you for the review. We update the home regularly, though we feel the bathrooms are not in need of renovation at this time. The house has a binder in the kitchen, and we are always happy to assist you at the office. Mahalo Hawaii Beach Homes

Family Holiday at the Banyan Tree
We totally enjoyed our stay at the Banyan Tree. We loved the kitchen with the double refrigerators; a group of our size (11) needed the extra room. We ate most of our meals in and the ample space in the kitchen allowed us to cook together without tripping over each other. It was well equipped with everything we needed to make our simple meals. The large tables for seating many people for dinners was also appreciated. The big round table in the living room was perfect for playing games at night. The management staff was awesome; any problems (there were few) were addressed amiably and promptly. A washer and dryer on the premises was so convenient for keeping our laundry under control. We used the hot tub almost everyday, but not the pool. It was beautiful but with all the beaches and gorgeous water surrounding the island we were otherwise occupied. There is a Costco 10 min. away and a Foodland 3 min. down the road, which were very convenient. This house was great for a large group, but not perfect. The front "bedroom" has no closet and the wall between it and the living room is mostly just a shell panel. It doesn't filter noise well. The only person who should be assigned that room is someone who sleeps very heavily and doesn't snore. The furniture in the house looks great in the pictures, but much of it is well worn, which I guess is to be expected in a rental unit. Some of the areas in the house need some updating too. I think it is a work in progress as there were new wood floors in the bedrooms, and the kitchen and two of the bathrooms have been redone. The beach in front of the house is not terrific and the water is very shallow out for quite a way. It is not good for swimming, although it is very safe for small children. All in all I would recommend this house to a large group looking for comfort and affordability, but not luxury.

Very much enjoyed our stay. Great house for our group.
There were 9 of us, My wife and I. our 4 kids and 3 boyfriends/ girlfriends. The house worked perfectly for us. Everybody had their own rooms and the common area was huge. The beach was nice for walks or just chillin. The swimming was not great because the water was so shallow, but it was nice being on the water. We enjoyed the hot tub and the pool. The 2 other cabins on the property were not an issue for us. The house was private and we never saw anyone else in the pool when we used it.
The condition of the house could be described as relaxed. it had that cabin sort of feel. cupboards and doors needed adjustment, the fan in the master bedroom was noisy and it would be nice if they took away the old appliances when they replaced them. However, all the air conditioners worked, the double fridges were were nice and the place was complete for an extended stay.
We would definitely go back to the Banyan Tree.

This house was an ideal place for all 13 members of my family to stay! Spacious rooms, access to the beach, the pool, and the hot tub were special treats we all enjoyed. The staff was very accomodating to our needs and timely as well. The location was ideal for all of the "hot spots" in Oahu! I would definetly come back and stay at the Banyan!!

Beautiful and quiet
As close as the property was to the highway we were surprised at how quiet it was. Except for the front yard and pool area, we never heard highway traffic. All rooms were large and comfortable, but the Jack and Jill bathroom between two of the bedrooms could be awkward for some parties. Whole house A/C would be nice, but we had continuous breezes all week (avg. temp 85 in early November) and it was fine. Don't go swimming out in the waves without a boogie board or surfboard as it can be deceivingly treacherous. I had snorkeling gear, had a fin torn off, my snorkel torn off and had to be rescued or I wouldn't be here writing this.

Perfect family get away
Our 3 year old grandson loved the beach and the shallow water. He was out before breakfast every morning with his grandpa. The only problem was with the handicap accessible bathroom. It wasn't. A low toilet and strange bar arrangement made it difficult for me to use. Hopefully they have fixed this but if you need accessibility, check first. The open floorplan worked well with my scooter.

Best Vacation Ever
When our two weeks were up I did not want to leave and I usually look forward to getting home, but not this time. The house was well equipped and comfortable enough for a large number of people to enjoy it without feeling cramped. The beach wasn't swimmable but we were close to Huanama Bay so that didn't matter. The pool water was crystal clear and refreshing and the location was near my daughter's house and an easy drive to anywhere else we wanted to go. The only negative was the layout of the bedrooms-a better description of the two bedrooms with a bath between and the bedroom that was more of a porch (not near a bathroom) would have been nice. The snorkel gear and boogie boards were appreciated and having the washer/dryer meant we had fresh towels daily which was a real luxury! I miss the sounds of the ocean and the evening breezes now that I am back in Texas. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Oct 2010

Manager Response: Thank you for the helpful suggestions and the great review! We are happy to describe the house layout in detail, please call us anytime with questions. The home has five bedrooms and three full bathrooms: the master has an ensuite bathroom, the second and third bedrooms are connected by a large, handicap accessible bathroom, and the third bath is directly next to the fourth bedroom and seperated from the fifth bedroom by the living room. It's true that Haunama Bay, one of the most beautiful snorkeling spots in Hawaii, is very close by. But you can also swim and snorkel just outside of the home, simply walk about 100 feet and you will be past the shallow area and in water perfect for swimming. Mahalo Hawaii Beach Homes
