Manager Response: Thank you for staying with us, Jessica!
- 15 steps to the beach and another 15 to the water, you can hear the waves all day/night.
- Good spot for locations on the North Shore (5 mins to Haleiwa).
- All correspondence with the rental staff were professional and courteous.
- Only A/C in the bedrooms as described, but the rest of the house gets very warm in the afternoons (even with the windows open and fans on trying to catch a breeze).
- The water is very brown close to the house due to a stream that empties into the bay a couple of hundred yards away. Out of 10 days we only had mostly clear water on one day (see google earth overhead to see what it looks like).
- House is pretty worn out, looks like a long time rental.
- Average cleanliness.
We ended up getting the house for less because we were close to the rental dates. All in all we were in Hawaii on the North Shore and had a good trip.
Manager Response: Thank you for staying with us and for taking the time to write a review. We do want to mention that the weather during your stay was unseasonably rainy, which led to stream water flowing much further out than is usual. This also led to atypically humid weather. Generally the sea breeze, trade winds and fans keep the house very comfortable while the ac in all the bedrooms are icy cold. We are sorry not to have exceeded your expectations in regards to cleaning, and are implementing a 4* hotel cleaning management plan to ensure that we do so in the future. And we do hope to see you again in the future, you were awesome guests! Mahalo McKibben Family!
Th downfall of this stay was that one comforter had what appeared to be dried blood on it. I am a doctor and I feel strongly that this was blood. I think this was completely inappropriate.
Second, the neighbor (which is within the same structure) continued to allow her dog to come over to our area. He even got into our home. I am not comfortable with strange dogs so we had to barricade our property with chairs.
Third, all the towels smell like mildew, which can be expected in such a damp climate, but is this day and age with Oxiclean, I'm not sure this was cool.
Fourth, we were asked if the owner could work on the WiFi on one of the days. I think we never should have been asked this. We said yes, and that was our choice, but this could have been booked around our stay, it was not emergent.
I have stayed in many other places that were more accommodating. After all, it is an incredible expense per night. For example, I have seen places leave you some coffee. This was bare bones.
