KOI POND COTTAGE

Charming Hawaiian style beachside one bedroom cottage with loft. Located on the North Shore coast line known as the surfing capital of the world - just 45 minutes to Honolulu and a short drive from historic Haleiwa Town, Waimea Bay, Pipeline and Sunset Beach.

The home itself is a classic example of island charm and there is a very special aura as you walk into this vintage Hawaiian style cottage. To enter you cross over a bridge, which extends over a koi fish pond, and step on to your ocean view deck which is ideal for dining and relaxing. Most guests spend many hours in the day enjoying the serenity of this indoor/outdoor area. The interior is decorated with Hawaiian Koa furniture and original art work by the artist Mar.

For those looking for surf or for a swim-- a number of prime surfing spots are located just in front or to the side of the property - Lani's, Holton's, Jocko's and Chun's Reef. For those looking for a swim or a beautiful beach walk, there are two pristine white sand swimming beaches near the home - Laniakea and Chun's Reef. Laniakea is shown in the pictures attached. As an added bonus, the private beach in front of the home is a favorite spot for large sea turtles who like to bask on the rocks. The sunsets are always breath taking and sometimes you will see turtles swimming in the surf, or dolphins and whales out in distance.

There are two homes on this lot, the other house has long-term tenants that love to share the yard and beachfront with visitors from all over the world.

Rates: $225 - $395 up to 2 guests
Please note pets are on property, dogs and cats.
This home is not recommended for children. The lanai is elevated and access to the pond is not secured for children.

Koi Pond Cottage no kai oi!
What a pleasure it was to stay in the Koi Pond Cottage. Guy and Mar were amazing hosts and now good friends! About a week ago I arrived here on the North Shore to work with the staff at Waialua High School. I stayed in a local hotel for a few days and then took some time to myself staying in this amazing home. I never know what to expect when I visit places like this but from day one I felt part of the North Shore. Here, they take great pride in O’hana, family, and that feeling permeated this place. Once a rural Sugar Cane focused area its now changing as Hawaii has pretty much abandoned this industry. So, a slow and maybe a bit frightening change is coming over this amazing North Shore destination as jobs change, property values soar and new people become anxious to live this Aloha Life style. I could go on forever about this but just wanted to say thanks to these people and this place for slowing me down and helping me refocus, once again, on what life’s about, those two words, O’hana and Aloha, say it all. I had some time to put the brakes on things, to hike in beautiful places, to swim with sharks in crystal blue water, paddle to an offshore Island, to sit on the beach and just listen to God talk in ways that you just can’t at home. So, Mahalo to this place, to the people who grew up here, to be able to listen as they “talk story” and share why this place needs to stay as it is, a place that reminds you of what this life should be about. This home and its beautiful view was just plain awe inspiring. Why would anyone want to leave this place? Ferris Bueller said it best “Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.”

Wonderful Stay at Koi Pond Cottage
The Koi Pond Cottage was a very nice rustic and quant place to stay for our first trip to Haleiwa. For our family of 4, the cottage offers a bedroom with a loft and living room bed. With traveling to various parts of the island all day, the accommodations were quite suitable. Although not on the beach front itself, it is a short 60 foot walk away which was no issue. The biggest draw to the cottage are the turtles – there were up to 6 giant green turtles in the pools of ocean water around the lava rocks each morning. Although you want to give them their space, you can literally walk right up to the turtles. The owners themselves live in the frontal property and are a very nice couple with plenty of great tips for their residents. BTW, their cat Nacho is very friendly and will mug you with affection. As for the location, it was ideally located on the North Shore and was in walking distance to Laniakea Beach and Chun’s Reef as well as short drives to Waimea Bay Beach Park and further north to Turtle Bay. Although the cottage had no a/c, it was not an issue at all for us in late June – there was plenty of ventilation. Our family really enjoyed our stay at the Koi Pond Cottage.

amazing stay
We stayed at Koi Pond for 2 weeks and were so happy with our choice! The property was peaceful and so beautiful. We spent many hours sitting on the Lanai enjoying the yard and watching the birds and the ocean. Guy and Mar are fabulous hosts and welcomed us as family from the day we arrived. The location was just what we needed. Not too far from Honolulu and a short drive from shopping and the grocery store. Nacho the cat was a pleasure to have hanging around and often followed us down to the beach to see the sea turtles and the breathtaking sunsets. We truly felt that it was our home while there and so hope to be able to return to Koi Pond in the future!

Plantation Cottage on the North Shore
Koi Pond Cottage is perfectly located on a quiet private access road between two beautiful beaches within a 5-minute walk. The view from the porch is a partial ocean view as there a second oceanfront house on the same property. The rental exudes the feel of 'old Hawaii' from the wrap around lenai to the furnishings inside. The outdoor bamboo shower (ferns galore!) is a great way to clean up after a day at the
beach. The cottage is best suited for four guests as the micro loft area with two beds has a steep ladder and is only accessed by crawling under the low ceiling. The comfortable and ample living room where the queen bed is located. There is a separate small double bedroom and bath in the back in addition to the main house. A BBQ, 3 beach chairs and water shoes are provided. Some snorkeling equipment, a beach umbrella and an additional chair is suggested should there be four guests.) As frequent renters of vacation properties, we found this property to be on the pricey side, particularly when discovering that each additional guest over two is charged an additional $50 per night. (We did not read carefully enough when making the original booking). We would highly recommend this property for its beautiful location on the NS, proximity to the beach and the traditional Hawaiian feel.

Koi Cottage
The cottage was exactly what we needed! Clean, had everything we needed. I especially loved the outdoor shower!
The owners were lovely and noon invasive. I would definitely stay here again.
Only thing I would like to see is better wifi. We could not log in and stay connected. Very poor signal.

Magical Spot
We had the most wonderful time at this magically place. So private and secure...our 7 and 10 year olds had the freedom to roam and play. Fell asleep to the crashing waves and tranquil koi pond every night. Guy & Mar were so warm and inviting...even letting us tag along to there Easter Sunday Service! The location is perfectly situated on the north shore, just a short drive to town, groceries and the best surf spots. We look forward to our next stay at the Koi Pond Cottage...hopefully sooner than later!

Manager Response: Laney glad you enjoyed the home. Yes, we do hope sooner rather than later. Definitely a plus to relax sometimes.

Wonderful Stay at Koi Pond Cottage - lots of Aloha in the air
We loved the Koi Pond Cottage with its beautiful view towards ocean - we were here at whale season and could watch lots of whale activity from the whales in the ocean in the morning and afternoon. What a special place - great hosts who shared the property with us. Guy who was feeding the Koi fish every morning was always there for a lovely chat, was showing us the farmers market to go shopping for fresh fish and veggies and was a great host. The rental was well supplied at our arrival, lots of books to read, towels and beach chairs for beach trips and a great atmosphere on the whole property - we loved it every evening to pull into our driveway. The garden is so inviting with its lovely flowers and the cottage is decorated in a very unique and own charm - just how we loved it. We immediately fell in love with it and it felt like 2nd home! We can highly recommend this place and if we ever come back to Oahu - this would be the place where we would want to stay again.
